About the course
The Aviation Ground Operative apprenticeship standard is the industry recognised level 2 qualification offered to UAS ground support personnel.
It proves your competence to potential civilian employers showing that you could work in a number of ground roles in the aviation industry including commercial airports, military base/aerodrome, heliport or other airfields.
With five key specialist functions, including the operation of aviation specialist equipment, and the operation of aviation IT equipment all working in conjunction with each other, aviation ground operators form the teams above and below the wing to ensure the efficient and effective arrival, turnaround and departure of aircraft. At the heart of the role safety, security and compliance with aviation regulations must be considered by all operatives.
With this qualification you will complete several units (as well as Functional Skills) including:
Core Skills Knowledge and Behaviours
· Compliance and regulation
· Inter-personnel skills
· Aviation systems
· Disruption incidents and emergencies
· Dangerous goods
Specialist Function Flight Operations
· Support aviation operation
· Operate aviation specialist equipment
· Ensuring a hazard free airside environment
· Operate aviation IT equipment
How long is the course?
Minimum of one year.
Free to RA personnel if eligible.
An assessor supports you throughout your learning to ensure the requirements of the standard are met. You will be able to complete some aspects of your programme online. On completion of the programme, training and functional skills, you will be assessed to gauge if you are ready for end point assessment. An independent assessor will then assess you on multiple choice questions, an observation in the workplace and in a professional discussion.
