Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Horse Care

About the course

The advanced apprenticeship proves to potential civilian employers your competence to work in supervisory roles in the equine industry.

It demonstrates that you have proven skills and knowledge in:

  • Supervising the care of horses
  • Employment issues
  • Training young horses
  • Fitting specialist tack
  • Supervising the feeding, healthcare and welfare of horses

The apprenticeship also gives you Functional Skills Level 2 in maths and English – this qualifies you for promotion to sergeant.

How long is the course?

Minimum of one year.

Free and available only to the King's Troop RHA personnel.

The course will be arranged for you by your Personal Development Advisor. Your knowledge will come from the training and experience you have gained in your professional role.

You will be assessed in the workplace and prove your competence by producing a portfolio of evidence under the guidance of an assessor at the Troop. You will also sit a Functional Skills exam if needed.

Where do I study?

At the King's Troop RHA. Inductions onto the apprenticeship take place every year.
