Michael Heathcote

LBdr Michael Heathcote served with 12 Regt RA for the duration of his 9 years. During which time he completed the mandatory training and qualifications required of his job role. He now wishes he hadn’t been so naive, “looking back I was so slow not to realise how many qualifications I could have been doing, and the support I could have got in terms of financing the course to better my education throughout my career. It was only in my resettlement that I completed numerous qualifications including 4 x NEBOSH courses, various Instructor qualifications including First Aid at Work, Level 3 First Line Management and Level 3 Coaching and Mentoring. I am now working as a Health and Safety Advisor for a local college, and offer my own Health & Safety consultancy, part-time. It wasn’t until my instructor on the NEBOSH recognised my health and safety ability and suggested I go into Health & Safety as a career that I had even thought about it. Now I couldn’t be happier, doing a career in a subject that I sit comfortably with. I must however; say thank you to 9 Bty, without whose support my resettlement wouldn’t have been so plain sailing.”
