Welcome to my very first blog on the National Novel Writing Month challenge, or NaNoWriMo for short.
While we are on the subject of abbreviations, is it absolutely necessary in this modern age to abbreviate absolutely everything? By the time you have explained to someone what the abbreviation NaNoWriMo actually means, it must be simpler - and much quicker - to say 'National Novel Writing Month'.
Anyway, the challenge is to write a 50 000 word novel manuscript during the 30 days of November - sounds like a book title right there! For my novel, I have decided on the title Birchlands and, in short, it's going to be about a group of disgracefully irreverent pensioners living in an old people's village who decide to rob a bank.
I won't begin writing it until the 1st November (because that's the challenge) but I will be drafting a rough plan/synopsis and fleshing out some of the main characters prior to the start date.
