Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)
Driver CPC was introduced across the EU to maintain high driving standards and improve road safety. All professional bus, coach and lorry drivers must hold a Driver CPC if they want to drive for a living. Therefore anyone without a Driver CPC licence cannot work as a professional civilian driver - even if you have experience in your military career.
The licence is valid for five years, so to continue driving professionally all you will have to do is complete 35 hours of periodic training (within the 5 year period from the start date) in order to renew your Driver CPC.
Please note: You must have passed all four parts of your LGV driving test prior to attending this course. Please check with DSA if you are unsure or speak to your PD Advisor or a member of the Logistics team (contact details below). The LGV units include:
Module 1 (Theory and Hazard perception test)
Module 2 (Case Studies) (done at same test centre as module 1)
Module 3 (Practical LGV Cat C or C1 driving test)
Module 4 (Driver CPC Practical test)
