Graham Caygill

Graham signed off from the Army after 6 years' service. During his time in the Army he knew he would have to prepare for the day when he left, so decided early on what his end goal would be and completed qualifications that would benefit him after he left.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE LEVEL 3 ADVANCED APPRENTICESHIP?

Working in the FSTs the Level 3 Telecoms Apprenticeship was offered to me whilst completing my ACS course. It was then that I decided that this was the career I would like to follow and so snapped up the qualification. Following this, in resettlement, I completed IOSH so that I had back up to my Apprenticeship and could 'manage health and safety' as well.

WHAT WAS THE COURSE LIKE?

The course was better than I expected. To complete evidence in a portfolio that was alongside my normal day to day job was a no brainer. All it took was a few extra hours and to put my brain into thinking mode and I was there!

HOW USEFUL HAS THE QUALIFICATION BEEN?

Life changing! I have bagged a job from a Security Systems company near to where I live, who are ELCAS providers. They said in my interview that having the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship was a great qualification to have on my CV and definitiely went in my favour.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO ANYONE WHO’S INTERESTED IN TAKING THE COURSE?

It’s a really useful qualification with a lot of opportunities, until I started looking for employment I had no idea the avenues it would open. If like me you’re still serving, you’ll also find it beneficial to your current role. My biggest tip would be to make sure you use your learning credits and do these courses sooner rather than later.
